More Trenching!!!

On Saturday Andy decided to take the machine back since it was doing us no good. They gave us a good price on a mini excavator. We were finally making progress.  Danny and Andy finished most of the trench and then Andy's friend Todd came and dug the rest. Once he took over it was done in no time. We were finally done around 9:00 p.m. We are now ready for the electric to come on Monday!!!! Andy also cleared out some of the brush around the front of the woods since we had the machine until Sunday.

We reached our Dig Date!

Our dig date was on friday!!! We were so excited to see this day finally come.  Andy was still trying to trench for the electric to be installed at 8a.m. We did not make it so now the electric company will be coming on Monday. Around 8:30a.m. our field manager arrived and he steaked out the house again to make sure we wanted it in the same place. I left for work around 9:15a.m. and Andy stayed and waited for the trencher to be fixed and to answer any question our field manager had.

First Dig!

I took the kids after work to show them the progress of what had happened. The girls were so excited to see what had been done. Andy was still trenching and the machine broke again. I think at least 5 service calls were made to fix it. My dad, Andy's dad and uncle were there to help him. Andy's friend Todd also came to help.The trencher broke down at 1 a.m. again . The ground was just to hard to keep up. Well the good news is we have our basement and the outline of our home dug.

Trenching was a pain!!!

On Thursday Andy started trenching for the electric to be installed on Friday. Everything was going well till the rain arrived. The kids and I sat in the car and left early because of how bad it was raining.  Around 1:30 a.m. on Friday Andy called and said that the trencher had broke.  It was still raining and he was trying to get it completed. Andy waited for the service guy from Sunbelt to arrive which took him a couple of hours to respond. Around 6 a.m Andy called for me to bring him more gas. I went out and he looked exhausted but he wanted to get it completed. As soon as I got back it was broken again and another service call was made.

We are making progress!!!

When we arrived yesterday the driveway was complete and looked really nice with the stone layed.  This is the first time the girls have walked around because of all the poison ivy. Needless to say

they were really excited to see everything. 

 

Andy will begin trenching for the electric tomorrow night  after work and  the electric will be  installed on friday. We could not be more excited to get this project started even though cleaning up the woods is going to be a long process. The trees are all down now and pushed to the side. These pictures below are a with my new camera that I just got yesterday so needless to say I was in the picture taking mode.

Date has moved up!

We got great news on Friday! The insurance was sent over to Wayne Homes on Friday that we need to start the dig. They will be starting the dig this coming Friday at 8 a.m. !!! How exciting! The driveway also started on Friday. I went to check on it today and the stone is to the start of the woods.  I know he has a lot of work because of all the stumps that need taken out but it should only take a couple of days. Also last Sunday I broke my big toe on the last tree that needed to be taken down. Andy and I were trying to put the tree on the tractor and it fell down on my foot. At first I thought my whole foot was broken but lucky it just got my big toe. I will now be wearing a boot the next four weeks to help it heal.

Closing on our loan!

We have been very busy! We went to Myrtle Beach for a week. It was great to just get away and not be stuck in the woods cutting down trees. This week has been a busy week. On Tuesday we closed on our loan!!! Now we can start putting in the driveway next week and electric can be installed after the driveway is completed. We also received our septic and well permits on Tuesday! On Wednesday I sent the first PPI requests to Wayne Homes to start getting funds. The rest were submitted today besides the driveway. Unfortunately Andy has been very busy with work because of the storm and we have not been out there since Thursday of last week. Hopefully Andy will get a break from work so we can finish taking down the trees.
